Story Of Sozopol
The ancient city of Sozopol has a rich history dating back thousands of years. Originally founded as Apollonia Pontica by Greek colonists from Miletus in 610 BC, it was one of the most important trading centers on the Black Sea coast.
The city was renamed Sozopolis (City of Salvation) in the Middle Ages. Throughout its history, it has been an important cultural and economic center. The old town's narrow cobblestone streets and traditional Revival-period houses create a unique atmosphere that transports visitors back in time.
Today, Sozopol is a beloved summer destination that successfully blends its ancient heritage with modern tourism. The Archaeological Museum houses impressive collections of artifacts from different periods of the town's long history.
